Network

Xtraordinary runs its own fully redundant BGP4 network (AS30827) on Cisco 6500 series carrier grade routers with over 5 Gbps of connectivity to LINX and Tier-1 networks.

BGP4 routes traffic via alternative networks in the event of one Internet route failing.

Member of LINX, the London Internet Exchange

LINX is one of the largest Internet exchange points in the world exchanging over 250GBps of traffic at peak times.

Xtraordinary is a member of LINX and has  2 x 1Gbps capacity connections to the exchange. Details of our current extensive peering is available on our peering page.

Tier-1 Bandwidth Providers

By having a policy of only connecting directly to some of the largest Tier-1 internet providers, we reap the following benefits:

  • Fewer Network 'Hops'. Less need to traverse through different networks (so fewer potential points of failure) and increased availability of more direct routes.
  • Greater Capacity. With large quantities of bandwidth capacity available the largest networks are less prone to performance problems and can cope more easily with network attacks or disruption.
  • Faster Data Throughput. High capacity networks enable your data to travel faster, resulting in faster download speeds.
  • Increased diversity of routes. In the event of internet congestion in one location, large global networks have much greater capability to re-route traffic through alternative cities.

NTT

NTT’s Global IP Network is a Tier-1 network (AS2914) providing high speed access to the Internet. The NTT Communications Global IP Network was built to transport Internet traffic at the highest speeds. Numerous direct paths, routing options and private peering points avoid Internet congestion.

Global Crossing

Global Crossing manages (end to end) an extensive global IP-based Tier-1 fiber optic network, covering over 100,000 route miles, four continents, 27 countries, and more than 200 major cities.

Tiscali International Network

Tiscali International Network is one of the largest, truly pan-European Tier-1 ISP networks covering 15 European countries (over 55 PoPs) plus the USA (6 PoPs) and Hong Kong. AS3257 is now the largest European Internet network according to PriMetrica's TeleGeography, Global Internet Geography survey.
