Rental fees for a fully managed layer-7 load balancer including hardware start from £290pm +VAT. This service is ideal for clients who need sophisticated load balancing and traffic control facilities across a farm of application or web servers. It is recommended that two load balancers operate in a dual live/live design to avoid single points of failure.
Clients benefit from a low inclusive monthly rental and support from Xtraordinary without the need for up-front capital expenditure. The cost to purchase comparable layer-7 load balancing equipment elsewhere would typically be in the range of £7500-£10,000. By combining a software solution from a leading industry specialist with HP hardware we are able to offer an outstanding combination of quality, processing power and value for money.
Load balancer hardware specifications can be customised to a customer's precise requirements and upgraded later if required. We have added a 1Gbps Level(3) upstream bandwidth circuit in our Interxion London City hosting location. Level(3) was selected largely on the strength of its peering - we are now only one hop away from an additional 2,136 networks. They are also a perfect complement to our existing connectivity as Level(3) maintains central London fiber routes to its US and European networks that are independent of the Docklands area.
Level(3) Communications operates a Tier-1 intercity network (AS3356) covering 67,000 miles and local networks in 116 cities in North America and an intercity network covering 10,000 miles and more than 20 countries across Europe, including Western, Southern, Northern, Central and Eastern regions. Level(3) maintains over 100 Gbit/s of trans-Atlantic bandwidth via OC-192 and 10GigE circuits.
