UK VAT Rate Change

The UK VAT rate will be reduced from 17.5% to 15% from 1 December 08. It will revert to 17.5% on 1 Jan 2010. All our pricing is quoted as £x +VAT so we will be changing the amounts we invoice. All invoices issued from 1 December 2008 onwards will show 15% VAT. Customers paying monthly by standing order or paypal will then be paying slightly too much. Those customers can if they wish change their standing order or paypal instruction to the new correct amount. If customers don't make this change then their accounts will show them to be slightly in credit. In most cases we will let this small credit balance run on and refund it at end of 2009 or earlier on request. This is the simplest administrative way to deal with this. For customers paying monthly by credit card we will automatically change the amount we collect to reflect the new VAT rate. For overseas customers (outside EU) or VAT registered EU customers we do not collect VAT and there is no implication for them. If customers have VAT queries please email accounts @ xtrahost.co.uk and we will look at issues on a case by case basis. We aim to ensure fairness with administrative simplicity.
